What is Biology?
Biology is a fascinating subject which entails a detailed study of the mechanics of plant and animal life, both in theoretical and practical terms. Topics covered include biochemistry, cell biology, physiology, genetics and ecology. There is also a strong practical element to the course, which aids understanding of the theoretical material and contributes to the final grade. The practical skills assessed are those of planning, carrying out experiments and drawing conclusions. Human Biology covers much of the same material, but with a closer focus on issues such as the causes and control of various diseases in homo sapiens, and the interaction of physiological systems across the lifespan of an individual.
