English Language
We are particularly proud of the achievements of our English Language department in bringing students up to the level they need to feel confident in their use of English and to make friends, as well as in helping each student to acquire the skills needed to realise their full potential in A-level examinations.
For students who are academically able, but whose English still needs further development before they are fully ready to begin an A-level course, our Full-time English Language course is recommended. This works on each of the essential language skills but particular stress is placed on developing the students' reading and writing abilities. In this way, rapid progress can be made and students are ready for the demands of an A-level course far sooner than they would be had they followed a more general English curriculum.
